Life after death is the oldest and most driving mystery in human experience.While there are some who insist the material realm is the limit to all experience, and only nothingness exists beyond death, the majority of the world’s population holds the belief that death is not the end of our experience. For most, there exists the certainty that something within us survives beyond the veil of death. It is the belief that some aspect of ourselves, beyond established science, persists beyond death into another state outside the current realm of experience. Every culture, religion and philosophy seeks to offer a definitive answer to this question, but none can claim with absolute certainty what lies beyond dying.

Life after death has its documentation of evidence.While ardent empiricists will argue against experiences outside the realm of empirical evidence, there is enough commonality between near-death experiences and accounts of death and dying throughout myriad cultures to completely disregard claims of some form of experiential event occurring at death. In fact, striking similarities between death accounts is well acknowledged, forcing numerous scientists and neurologists to propose theoretical explanations to account for it. Thus far, the realms of science can offer no answer with greater certainty than any provided by religion or philosophy. The question of life after death is inseparably tied into understanding the nature of human consciousness and experience, the hope is in eventually understanding one, we will come to understand the other.

Life After Death Our Beliefs

While it is inevitable that each and every being on this planet will eventually understand the answer to the mystery of life after death, the drive to understand it while we are still among the living occupies the waking thoughts of millions. Be it eternal reward or punishment, a limbo state, union with the energies of all reality or rebirth into a new form on planet earth, what we choose to believe persists beyond death seemingly reflects more upon our humanity in this life. There are few who argue that the inevitability of our mortality makes the life after death experience more interesting.
